AT-3 Features

The Aero AT-3 is a Polish built aircraft certified in the EASA CS-VLA (Very Light Aircraft) category. It is designed as a low cost, low maintenance basic training aircraft, also suitable for economical touring. It has a max. cruise speed of 119 knots (220 km/h) and a range of 800 km. With a fuel consumption of around 14-16 litres per hour and a base price of just € 91 000, the AT-3 offers unbeatable economy in its class. Costs per hour for flying schools and private owners alike can be cut by half, compared to the standard training and club aircraft commonly used today.

The all-metal construction is ideal for an aircraft that must withstand the duress of the pilot training environment. Components are anodized for corrosion protection. Solid rivets are primarily used in construction for strength and durability. The maintenance-free tricycle spring undercarriage is specially designed to absorb piloting errors and operation on uneven grass airfields. Double, independent hydraulic toe brakes on the main wheels are very effective and provide excellent ground manoeuvrability with a small turning circle. Widest wheel base in its class.

The AT-3 is powered by the reliable Rotax 912S engine providing 100 hp, certified for unleaded fuel and Avgas. TBO: 1500h. The aircraft is fitted with a specially designed 3-bladed aero-elastic, ground adjustable carbon-fibre ELPROP propeller to increase performance while reducing noise, only 65 dB. The propeller has no TBO.

The aircraft is equipped with large, mechanically operated 3-stage split flaps (0, 15 and 40 degrees) and mechanical elevator-trim, for reliability and safety, and has an excellent short-field performance.

All-flying tail-plane. The vertical tail unit consists of fin and rudder. The elevator is equipped with the trim & balancing tab.

The dual control cockpit of the AT-3 is ergonomically laid out to the highest standards. A comprehensive choice of instrumentation and avionics options is available. The AT-3's standard equipment includes a radio, voice activated intercom system, artificial horizon, turn indicator and other typical VFR flight and engine instruments. Many further options are available. The picture shows the fully equipped "Tourer" version with moving map GPS, VOR, fuel computer, transponder Mode S and ELT 406. The aircraft is fitted with an electronic stall-warner providing both a visual and electronic warning. Engine controls include choke and carburettor heating with carburettor air temperature indicator.

The large, high quality canopy allows for excellent all-round visibility. It opens forward for easy access to the cockpit. The canopy is lockable. Sliding venting tabs are installed on both sides of the canopy. The canopy is jettisonable in case of emergency. Jettisoning is achieved by pulling the lever and pushing the canopy upwards.

The comfortable seats have attractive 2-tone leather upholstery. The luggage compartment is located behind the sits. It consists of two containers and allows for luggage of 30 kg total weight: 20 kg in the left container and 10 kg in the right one. The left container is lockable.
